Although you will not find any beach like Phuket and Krabi anywhere near Beijing, Beijing is actually dotted with beaches, some of which are wonderful and best in the region, and great to head to during the long hot summer.
I have photographed every one of those spectacular Beijing beaches nearby, and you can drive there to swim, snorkel, and snooze on them. Experience the China northern beaches.
Nandaihe
Why go to Nandaihe: nearest beach away from Beijing; honored as â?~the first bathing venue under the heavenâ?T.
Connected to Beidaihe by a bridge over a river, Nandaihe is the newly developed tourist and recuperation resort under Funing County of Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province.
Nandaihe is an ideal venue for taking a dip in the sea and sunbathing, with the â?~basic elements for seaside tourismâ?T â?" the sea, beach, sunshine and greenery.
The winter days are never severely cold nor the summer days intensely hot, with average temperatures throughout the year remaining at around 10 â"f, the highest reaching 35â"f in the summer for no more than a week.
Average temperatures in July and August, which are known as Chinaâ?Ts hottest months, here are fixed at around 23â"f. Therefore, it is an exception: with gentle-blowing breezes, very beneficial to human health.
The best time to visit Nandaihe is between June and October.
Beidaihe
Why go to Beidahe: lively inhabitants, bustling night stalls, seaside views; home to vendors, speed boats and school outings;
Beidaihe is a famous and scenic summer resort located at the southwest of Qinhuangdao city. As an alluring coastal village with a small town ambience, it provides a comfortable and cool break from the city life.
Many more holiday villages and public bathing places have been established, where you can taste local snacks and delicious seafood, ride in a speed boat, or relax in a ballroom dancing. If you want to get away from the masses, a stroll on the pebbled sand will bring you close to nature.
Close to the Bohai Sea, it enjoys the oceanic climate with the abundant birds and plants there. During summer, the average temperature in Baeidaihe is around 23 degrees celsius, which makes it as the first choice for the governmental leaders to visit and get away from the high temperature in the captial city Beijing. And the temperature in winter is around -5 degrees celsius, guests can wear the down jacket outside and enjoy the outside view of the city. The reason that Baidaihe is one of the cities attract people to come during the summer time is its 70% forest coverage rate, which makes the city to be a large forest at the coastline.
Feicui Island
Why go to Feicui Island: Fine beaches without the usual crowds, largely natural and unspoiled
Feicui Island is actually a peninsula. Unlike well-established coastal resorts like Beidaihe or Nandaihe which are jammed with hotels and villas, Feicui is largely natural and unspoiled, with nothing more needed than its amazing natural scenery to draw you there.
Surrounded by sea in its north, east and west sides, the peninsula got its name from the colour of its pure and clean water which is the colour of emerald. Without any restaurants or hotels, the beach with its fine sand is home to only a few scattered tents. The sole buildings there are a simply-constructed toilet and a shower.
Visitors can also enjoy many other forms of entertainment such as horse racing, yacht racing, beach volleyball, beach soccer, kite flying or going fishing with local fishermen.
No hotels and restaurants. So a weekend stay on the soft and clean beach requires camping equipment and food. A camping spot for two people costs 60 yuan per day (US$ 7.25). There are hotels of different quality located 10 kilometres away along Golden Beach.
A beach barbecue is served at a cost of 30-40 yuan (US$3.63- 4.84).
The shower facilities are limited. It will be a good idea to bring water to wash your face.
Qinhuangdao
Qinhuangdao, a beautiful coastal resort in North China, has a great reputation for the perfect, natural, all-weather Port of Qinhuangdao, distinguished and historical Shanhaiguan Pass and the ever stunning summer holiday resort, Beidaihe. It has abundant touristresources, including forests, rivers, lakes, springs, beaches, harbors, temples, gardens, villas, and ancient passes through its mountains. However, the Great Wall and the seashore must be the first temptations for most visitors to Qinhuangdao.
Along the seashore, stretching from the northeast to the southwest, there are five popular tourist zones: Shanhaiguan District, Haigang District (Harbor District), Beidaihe Scenic Spot, Nandaihe Tourist Resort and the Golden Coast
